The swedish canadian pianist-composer Jonas Kvarnström discovered his passion for music early on in life and began piano studies with Profs. Robin Wood and Robert Silverman at the Universities of Victoria and British Columbia, Canada.
As a prizewinner at various Canadian piano competitions he went on to study in Europe under leading artists such as Richard Goode, John Ogdon and Béla Síki. In 1992 he completed his doctoral studies (D.M.A) with Robert Silverman and Douglas Finch at the University of British Columbia .
Active as well in composition and music production, he received multiple Platinum Awards for the 8-CD “Musical Soundscapes” series and hundreds of recordings in the classical and modern repertoire. In 1995 he received a JUNO award nomination as ‘Best Instrumental Artist’ from the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences.
As well as concertizing internationally, he has been active as a faculty member at the Bayerische Theaterakademie August Everding/University of Performing Arts Munich as well as at numerous other cultural institutes. He is currently the creative director and head of the FMS Music School in Munich.
In recent years he has become an acclaimed speaker and voiceover artist for international clients such as Audi, BMW, Disney, McDonald's, Mercedes, Langenscheidt International, Pro 7, Rosetta Stone, Schindler, & Red Bull. Jonas lives in Vaterstetten, on the outskirts of Munich, Germany.
